The New Forest Freedom Community: Summer road trip Stourhead in Wiltshire

The New Forest Freedom Community are having a summer road trip to the beautiful Stourhead in Wiltshire. A coach will pick us up from Lyndhurst Main Car Park and leave PROMPTLY at 08:30 so please be there by 08:15 so we can get everyone on the coach ready to leave at 08:30.

Seats on the coach will be free for NFFC members and £18 for non-members. An NFFC member can take 1 child under 12 for free (maximum of 1 per family). Tickets for the coach must be bought through TICKET TAILOR ONLY – https://buytickets.at/bob6/1732860

You will need to pay for your own entry to Stourhead which is owned by the National Trust. Discounted Entry for Adults is £17.60 (standard ticket price is £22), Children aged 5-17 is £8.80 (standard price is £11) and under 5’s go free. If you are a National Trust member then of course entry is free.

The coach should arrive at Stourhead around 10:30 a.m. What’s there?

Palladian house
One of the first grand Palladian-style villas to be built in England, with a carriage entrance leading to the piano nobile, or main floor.

Landscape garden
World-famous landscape garden with a lake set among lawns and classical temples, surrounded by trees and with sweeping views.

Garden temples
Buildings include the Temple of Flora, the Temple of Apollo and the Pantheon, which was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.

Eating
National Trust restaurant and take-away kiosk available daily, local amenities such as a historic inn, an ice cream parlour (that should keep Graham happy 🙂 and a farm shop. Many may prefer to take a picnic along whilst admiring the views across the lake (highly recommended).

The coach will leave Stourhead PROMPTLY at 4:00 p.m. so I would suggest aiming to be back slightly before then in case you decide last minute to take a dash to the toilet!

The coach should arrive back at Lyndhurst Main Car Park around 6:00 p.m.
